How to Get the Most Out of Your Adjustments in Harrogate

Posted: April 3rd, 2020

In this blog, we plan to share our best advice on how you can get the most out of every single adjustment while protecting the progress you have made.

Implementing these tips will undoubtedly speed up your recovery time and save you unnecessary visits in our clinic or any other healthcare providers clinic for that matter.

When it comes to undergoing care it is always up to you as to how far you choose to take it, however following your Chiropractor’s recommendations, will always ensure the best outcome.

Here are some simple recommendations that will help you progress in the right direction:

  • Avoid any physical stress following an adjustment, the longer you stay relaxed, the more time your body has to adapt and heal.

  • Aim to sleep on your back or side, but not on your front. In the perfect world, you want your neck supported throughout the night, leaving your head in a neutral position.

  • Consider placing a pillow under your knees (while on your back) or in between your knees (if you prefer to sleep on your side). Discover more about sleeping positions here...

  • Regularly implement hot and cold compressions if advised, alongside any home exercises you may have been prescribed.

  • In the event that you need to lift an object, ensure you bend your knees while keeping your back flat.

  • Avoid any movements that aggravate or cause discomfort at all costs!

  • When sitting down, aim to sit straight, utilise a cushion to support your lower back and do not cross your legs.

  • Never try to push your body or rush the process, healing takes time and the ligaments must be given appropriate time to adapt and re-train themselves to support your spinal column.

  • Follow the specific schedule of adjustments set out for you, there is no substitution for carefully planned adjustments. Each recommendation we make is unique to the individual.
