6 Simple Revision Tips

Posted:

1. Use a cookbook stand

These can be really useful to hold textbooks and make notes on so you can protect your posture and prevent you from constantly looking down at your desk and dropping your head forward.

2. Take lots of microbreaks

Studies show that after 20 minutes of hard work your focus and concentration begins to decrease. So take a small break stand up and move around. Stay away from smartphones! They are still mini-screens so you need to do something else. Taking a break is essential for higher productivity, energy, concentration, efficiency and creativity.

*Pro tip: Consider looking into a Pomadoro app for your phone*

3. Eat smart

Although it is easy to eat lots of sweets and chocolate it only provides short term boosts of energy. Instead eat brain-boosting foods such a dark leafy greens, oily fish, fruit and nuts.

4. Keep hydrated

Your brain is made up of 85% water so it's no surprise your body needs lots of water to function. A recent study even showed that keeping hydrated can boost your attention by almost 25%.

5. Exercise Often

You don’t have to spend hours in the gym, but find an activity that you enjoy, even a 5 minute Tabata will do. Exercise helps to oxygenate the brain and release tension helping you to keep calm, mentally relax and study more efficiently.

6. Take Sleep Seriously

Sleep plays a key role in helping you filter and store everything you have learnt during the day and recharge your batteries which can increase your focus when learning. So allow yourself 8-9 hours of sleep every night.

We hope these tips help you with your exam success!
